Staff Job Families
Human Resources, in consultation with stakeholders, is in the process of developing job families for some of the more common position groups within the university. Job families are used to describe different levels of related positions, define advancement opportunities and provide consistent market rate assignments to similar positions.
This work is ongoing, and employees will be notified if their position has been slotted into a job family; supervisors will also be made aware. As job families are finalized and implemented, they will be posted on this website.
Job families potentially include:
- Administrative support
- Information Technology (in use now within ITS)
- Outreach support and delivery
- Program and project management
- Research (currently in progress)
- Student support
Positions that fall within a finalized job family will have standardized position summaries and required qualifications and suggested additional preferred qualifications. Supervisors will be able to expand on particulars of the position within the unit summary section of the position description and adjust preferred qualifications to suit the specific duties of the position. There will be a university title assigned to these positions representing job family placement, and units will continue to assign working titles that may differ from the university title.
