Preventing Childhood E. Coli Deaths

UI research scientist Haiqing Sheng of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences received $100,000 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for his project, “CRISPR-Cas9 directed bacteriophage treatment of EPEC diarrhea.” Read more about this project.

Digitizing Archaeology

Stacey Camp, an associate professor of anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, received $2,000 from the Idaho Humanities Council for her project, “Digitizing the Archaeology of WWII Internment in Idaho.” Read more about the Kooskia Internment Camp Archaeological Project.

Understanding Salmon Evolution

Brian Kennedy, an associate fish and wildlife sciences professor in the College of Natural Resources and part of the Institute for Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies (IBEST), received $127,748 from the Bonneville Power Administration for his project, “The evolution of life history in Snake River fall Chinook salmon.”
