From the Dean

Welcome to the University of Idaho College of Law

Established in 1909, the University of Idaho College of Law has a long history of educating leaders in the law, business and public sector. We have two campuses: one in the vibrant college town of Moscow and the other in Boise, the state’s capital and the nation’s fastest growing city. This allows us to offer a flexible law school experience that works for recent college graduates, parents and experienced professionals seeking to build new skills.

Our law school is well-known for producing graduates who are ready to hit the ground running in practice. Our programs in Business Law and Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property and Technology Law, Native Law, and Natural Resources and Environmental Law prepare students for opportunities in these fast-growing fields. Through our six law clinics, students gain experience representing real clients while working under close faculty supervision. Our externship program allows students to explore different practice areas while building connections with employers.

We are also recognized for the warmth of our community and our commitment to our students. Our faculty are dedicated teachers and mentors, who value their personal relationships they have with students and alumni.  We know that people learn differently, so we provide intensive individualized support from orientation through bar passage to ensure every student can be successful.

We are proud to provide these opportunities affordably to students from Idaho and 16 other states and territories in the western United States. As a result, we are regularly recognized as a “best value” law school by PreLaw Magazine. And because our university is situated on the historic territory of the Nez Perce and Coeur D’Alene tribes, the Tribal Homelands Scholarship program provides financial support to any member of a federally recognized tribe.
