University of Idaho’s College of Law offers the Juris Doctor degree in a three-year program and can be completed at either of our two locations in Moscow or Boise.
We also offer three emphasis areas — Business Law, Native American Law and Natural Resources and Environmental Law — allowing you to dive deeper if you’d like to focus on a specific field of law.

Concurrent degree programs
Make the most of your time and investment while gaining specialized expertise with one of our concurrent degree programs. These programs allow you to earn your Juris Doctor and another graduate or professional degree in less time by applying select credits from one program toward the other.
Concurrent degree candidates must fill out a separate application for each degree and be admitted to each program.
J.D./M.ACCT. (Master of Accountancy)
The concurrent J.D./M.ACCT. degree, offered in partnership with U of I’s College of Business and Economics, allows you to combine the study of law and accountancy. This program better prepares you to practice in an increasingly dynamic, interdisciplinary and globalized marketplace.
Available in Moscow.
J.D./M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration)
The concurrent J.D./M.B.A. program, offered in partnership with University of Idaho’s College of Business and Economics, allows you to count 12 M.B.A. credits toward your J.D. and 12 J.D. credits toward your M.B.A. This unique program provides invaluable opportunities and experiences to integrate law and business into your career.
Available in Boise and Moscow.
J.D./M.S. in accountancy, taxation
The concurrent J.D./M.S. in Accountancy, Taxation program, offered in partnership with the Boise State University College of Business and Economics, allows you to earn the J.D. and M.S. in Accountancy, Taxation in 3 to 3 1/2 years rather than the usual 4.
Available in Boise.
J.D./M.S. in environmental science
The concurrent J.D./M.S. in environmental science, offered in conjunction with U of I’s Environmental Science Program, is designed to give you technical knowledge in natural resources and environmental science coupled with professional expertise provided by training in law.
Available in Moscow.
J.D./M.S./Ph.D. in water resources
The Water Resources graduate program provides interdisciplinary study options through University of Idaho’s Department of Soil and Water Systems to address complex water resources issues. We communicate across disciplines to broaden and deepen your understanding of these problems. The concurrent J.D./M.S. may be completed in 4 years, and the J.D./Ph.D may be completed in 6.
Both the M.S. and Ph.D. in water resources offer three areas of study options for you to choose from:
- M.S. / Ph.D. in water resources, engineering and science option
- M.S. / Ph.D. in water resources, law, management and policy option
- M.S. / Ph.D. in water resources, science and management option

J.D./M.P.A. (Master of Public Administration)
The concurrent J.D./M.P.A. program is offered in conjunction with University of Idaho’s Department of Politics and Philosophy. The program equips you with the intellectual and practical skills necessary to lead and serve the public interest through positions in local governments and communities. Courses emphasize topics such as community planning, organizational theory, public personnel, public policy and public budgeting.

3+3 Law Degree Program
In partnership with University of Idaho and other participating institutions, the College of Law offers an accelerated 3+3 Program, which allows you to earn both your bachelor's and juris doctor degrees in 6 years.
Students may be approved for admission after 3 years of undergraduate study through the 3+3 Program at these institutions: University of Idaho, North Idaho College in conjunction with University of Idaho, College of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State College and Brigham Young University – Idaho.
The University of Idaho 3+3 Law Program allows undergraduate students, with the permission of their major advisor and department chair, to count up to 30 credits of the first-year law curriculum toward the completion of the undergraduate degree. This form is required for any student participating in the 3+3 Law Program to verify which undergraduate degree requirements will be fulfilled during the student’s first year of law school.
If you’re interested in the 3+3 Program, you must:
- Satisfy all (if any) requirements imposed by U of I, College of Idaho, LCSC and BYU-Idaho.
- Have an LSAT score at or above the College of Law’s median, and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or better.
- Express interest in the program by submitting a 3 + 3 Program Registration Form to the University of Idaho College of Law Admissions Office during the spring semester of your sophomore year — no later than May 15.
- Take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) in June following your sophomore year or September during your junior year.
- Apply for admission to U of I’s College of Law no later than Jan. 15 of your junior year.
- Provide certification from the appropriate authority at your undergraduate institution that all requirements for the award of a baccalaureate degree, including but not limited to the completion of 90 semester hours or 144 quarter hours, will have been completed before entering the College of Law and that you will receive a baccalaureate degree if the College of Law first year curriculum (30 credit hours) is successfully completed.
