Global Student Success Program
In January 2017, the University of Idaho launched a partnership with Navitas to broaden international education on campus and expand learning opportunities for international and domestic students alike. The partnership will result in an increased number of international students — both graduates and undergraduates — to U of I’s Moscow campus and strengthen U of I’s reputation as an educational destination abroad.
Who is Navitas?
Navitas is a global higher education organization that has partnered with leading universities for more than 25 years to prepare students around the world to be study-ready, work-ready and world-ready. As pioneers in campus internationalization, Navitas’ collaborations accelerate their partner universities’ internationalization goals resulting in stronger, more diverse international student population; improved academic outcomes; enhanced global profile; and sustainable revenue streams for reinvestment in key areas of the university.
About the Global Student Success Program
The U of I-Navitas partnership is known as the University of Idaho Global Student Success Program (GSSP). The first cohort of international students recruited through the GSSP began in August 2017. Upon completion of renovations, the Global Student Success Program administrative offices will be located in the Memorial Gym Building.
The cornerstone of this partnership is a pathway program for international students designed to ease the transition to a U.S. university environment and prepare students for future academic success.
The program – comprised of academic course content, study skills development and high levels of social and academic support – gives international students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to succeed in U of I’s rigorous environment. Students who successfully complete a pathway will be eligible to continue their undergraduate or graduate degree studies at U of I.
Navitas has more than two decades of experience establishing successful pathway programs around the world and was the first to launch such a program in North America.
The GSSP employees also work in partnership with U of I’s existing International Programs Office and American Culture and Language Program (ACLP). It does not change the existing student recruitment efforts U of I participates in around the globe.
