Other graduate admission types
Western Regional Graduate Program applicants
The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) is a collaboration between universities from 16 neighboring states and territories, who are all members of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE), that facilitates lower tuition rates comparable to in-state tuition.
When applying to selected graduate programs at University of Idaho, students from WICHE states may qualify for Idaho in-state tuition for master’s, graduate certificate and doctoral programs.
4+1 Master’s Program applicants
The 4+1 Master's Program creates an opportunity for U of I students to earn a non-thesis master’s degree in one year when they enroll in a graduate program similar to their undergraduate major immediately following their undergraduate program.

Expedited admissions applicants
Fast-track your future: U of I undergraduate students who have earned or will earn their bachelor’s degree before beginning their first graduate semester may qualify for an expedited admission process into our non-thesis master’s program.
Readmission applicants
If you’ve left graduate school prior to earning your degree and would like to reenroll, you need to apply for readmission. The readmission application is for previous graduate students who have been absent for two or more years and for students who earned a graduate degree and wish to enroll in a second graduate program or degree.
Readmission needs approval from the academic program in which the student wishes to enroll.
If the period of non-enrollment does not exceed two years or four consecutive semesters, student records remain active and eligible for registration without requiring readmission.
Readmission requirements
To request readmission to University of Idaho, the following are required:
- Readmission application
- $30.00 non-refundable application fee
- Updated resume/CV
- Additional documents may be required at the department’s request
The readmission application must be submitted through the online application portal. To access the readmission option, begin by opening a Graduate-level application. On the Program of Study tab, select the student type "Former U of I student returning to the same level" and the application type "Readmission."
Additional readmission information
Returning to the same degree/major
Returning students who have been absent for more than two years and wish to enroll in the same program/degree must complete an online Application for Readmission.
Changing to a different degree/major
Returning students who have been absent for more than two years and wish to change to a different graduate/program must complete an online Application for Readmission indicating the new degree or program.
Re-admission to a different degree/major after earning a previous graduate degree in a different major
Former U of I graduate students who already earned a previous graduate degree and wish to pursue a new program/degree must complete an online Application for Readmission indicating the new degree or program.
Current graduate students who seek admission into a new degree or want to change to a different program must submit a Change of Curriculum form to the College of Graduate Studies with all the appropriate departmental approvals.
