VandalStar - A New Platform for Online Advising and Communication

February 04, 2019

VandalStar implementation began last fall and has shown to be a great support for students' success. VandalStar empowers students to connect with an integrated service network — advisors, instructors, housing, career services, student support services - TRIO, etc. — all in one place.

Students using the program are able to:

  • Ask for help when they don't know where to start
  • Schedule appointments online with advisors/faculty/staff
  • Set appointment reminders
  • Receive feedback from advisors, instructors and student service units
  • View grades

VandalStar also has important features to enhance the services faculty/staff provide for student success, including:

  • Course and advising rosters with photos
  • Integrated student profiles
  • Easier early warning grade (progress survey) reporting
  • Integration with Outlook calendars to promote efficient appointment scheduling
  • Efficient communication and intervention to targeted student populations
  • Flags — alerts to students, advisors and instructors

Many training opportunities are available, including customized options to fit unit, faculty or staff needs. Digital, printable and video options are available online, with more to come. For scheduling or questions, contact VandalStar at or 208-885-8787.
