Tutxinmepu Pow Wow

The Native American Student Center, in conjunction with the Native American Student Association and the University of Idaho, hosts the Tutxinmepu Pow Wow each year. Tutxinmepu is a Nez Perce word meaning “the place where the deer loses its spots.” Dancers, drummers and audiences come from across the Northwest and Canada to participate in our Pow Wow.

This year’s Host Drum: Stoney Park, Stoney/Nakoda; Master of Ceremony: Russell RedCrow, Blood; Arena Director: Keith HeavyRunner, Blackfeet; and Head Judge: Kamelle Bourgeau, Nez Perce.  

Specials in: Drum Contest, Alumni Dance Off, Women’s Jingle, Mends Traditional, Hat N’ Boot and Footloose.
