Visitor FAQ

  • Do I need a permit to park on campus?
Yes. Visitor permits are required to park in any campus parking lot Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (9 p.m. or 24 hours in some areas). Some spaces in Gold lots require a permit until 9 p.m. All Green lots require a permit 7 days a week, 24 hours.

There are three self-serve pay-to-park lots on campus, which allow you to pay for parking hourly using coins, or credit/debit card.
  • How do I get a Visitor permit?
Visitor permits can be purchased online or at the Parking Office located in the Intermodal Transit Center on the corner of Sweet Avenue and Railroad Street (1006 Railroad Street).

If you are a guest of a department or college on campus, ask the individual coordinating your visit about Visitor permit options and if they have a Visitor permit available for you upon your arrival.
  • Where can I park with a Visitor permit?
Visitor permits validate parking in any regular space in all Gold, Red, Blue, Silver, Purple, or Green lots on campus. They are also valid in any space marked as Visitor parking, or Reserved - Visitor permit required spaces. These special spaces are located in various locations throughout campus, view the campus map for more details on locations of visitor parking spaces.

Visitor permits are not valid in meters, reserved spaces (marked for anything other than Visitor permits), disability spaces (unless a state disability permit is also displayed), fire lanes, no parking areas, or on the campus walkway system.
  • I received a parking citation, what are my options?
All parking citations must be paid or appealed within 15 days from the citation issuance date. Visit PTS Online Services to pay or appeal a citation now. After 15 days the final option is to pay the fine.
  • How do I pay a parking citation?

Citations issued within the last 15 days can be paid online by visiting PTS Online Services.

Citations older than 15 days can be paid at the Parking Office, or at the Cashier Office in the Student Union Building, or by mailing a check to:

    Parking and Transportation Services
    875 Perimeter Drive MSC 4106
    Moscow, ID 83844-4106

  • How do I appeal a citation?

Visit PTS Online Services to submit an appeal. If the citation is older than 15 days, it can no longer be appealed and must be paid. All citation appeals must be submitted online.

  • I have a Disability permit, do I need to get a permit to park on campus?
Yes. If you are visiting campus and you have a permanent or temporary Disability permit from any state, you must purchase a Visitor permit to be displayed in conjunction with your Disability permit. Doing so allows you to park in any Disability space on campus, any colored lot, in designated spaces on the campus walkway system, or in any space designated for visitor parking.

After hours (5 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday - Friday), on Saturday and Sunday, and during holidays and academic breaks, a University of Idaho permit is NOT required to be displayed with a permanent or temporary Disability permit.
