About

The Department of Agricultural Education, Leadership and Communications (AELC) provides agricultural education and leadership services through fundamental knowledge of and skills in educational programming, learning dynamics and developing technologies that enhance the lives of Idaho citizens. 

We provide instruction in:

  • Agricultural, extension and experiential education
  • Youth organizations
  • Leadership development
  • Instructional design and methods

Idaho Agriculture in the Classroom helps our state's youth understand the source of food and fiber, and the system that delivers it to their table. Please visit the Idaho Agriculture in the Classroom website for materials and resources for teachers, workshop dates and information on how to become a member.

The mission of the Idaho Division of Career-Technical Education is to provide Idaho's youth and adults with the technical skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for successful performance. Please visit the Idaho Division of Professional-Technical Education website and explore resources for high school students, adult students, teachers and administrators.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Please visit the Idaho FFA Association website for more information.

The Idaho FFA Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that provides financial support to FFA and agricultural education in Idaho. Please visit the Idaho FFA Foundation website for more information.

IATA is the professional organization for agriculture and natural resource instructors in the state of Idaho. Please visit the IATA website for meeting minutes, leader and board appointments and more.

The NAAE is a federation of state agricultural educators' associations. Currently, NAAE is focusing on three areas: advocacy for agricultural education, professional development for agricultural educators and recruitment and retention of current agricultural educators. The FFA is a dynamic youth organization that is a part of agricultural education programs at middle and high schools. Please visit the FFA website for information on conferences and events, how to support FFA, how to join FFA and more.

This student organization provides members with opportunities to develop as educators. Our members provide workshops, host events for education, attend National FFA and Idaho FFA conventions and more.
