Get involved and support CALS
The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is fortunate to have advocates who take an active interest in the future of the college, agriculture and our communities.
Are you interested in volunteering or becoming more active with CALS? Send us an email at calsalumni@uidaho.edu and we’ll help you get involved.
Get involved with CALS
Alumni can stay involved by nominating fellow alumni for CALS alumni awards and supporting our efforts financially or by attending events hosted by the college. You can also keep up with CALS by subscribing to newsletters focused on your interests. Update your contact info to access everything that makes being a Vandal alum special.
Steer-A-Year
The Steer-A-Year program provides U of I students with hands-on experience operating a small feed lot on campus. You can support this program by donating a steer or providing financial assistance.
Gifts of Land
We know how important your land is — it’s more than just acres. It’s a part of you and your family legacy. One way to preserve that land and sustain it into the future is through a charitable gift of land to University of Idaho.
Awards
Every year, CALS recognizes individuals who have brought honor and recognition to the college. Nominate an alumnus or view past winners. Alumni award nomination forms are due Nov. 1.
Idaho education tax credit
As an Idaho taxpayer, your donations to University of Idaho’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences may be eligible for a 50% education tax credit. This credit is available regardless of whether you itemize deductions. For those who do itemize, a donation to U of I allows income tax deductions on both your state and federal returns.
A tax credit is a reduction on the actual tax you owe or an increase in your refund.
Tax credit is the smallest of:
- One-half of the amount donated
- 50% of your Idaho tax (10% for corporations)
- $500 ($1,000 if married filing jointly, $5,000 for corporations)
- Your Idaho tax minus the amount of credit for income tax paid to other states
Example giving benefits:
- Idaho married couples may take up to 50% of a $2,000 gift (a tax credit of $1,000)
- Idaho individuals may take up to 50% of a $1,000 gift (a tax credit of $500)
- Idaho corporations may take up to 50% of a $10,000 gift (a tax credit of $5,000)
