Support for every writer, at every stage

University of Idaho’s Writing Center is here to support the entire Vandal community, including undergraduate and graduate students, employees, postdoctoral researchers and alumni. Whether you are brainstorming, drafting, revising or polishing your work, our tutors and consultants are ready to help.

We offer one-with-one tutoring, workshops, classes and group events designed to help writers build confidence, refine ideas and develop lasting writing skills in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Access writing support anywhere

The Writing Center offers flexible options to meet your needs, whether you’re on campus or across the globe. Connect with our experienced writing tutors in one of three ways: in-person sessions on the Moscow campus, live video chats or detailed feedback via email.

This variety of appointment formats makes it easy to get expert writing support at a time and place that works for you.

Creative writing support and communities

Discover a supportive space for creative writers at the Writing Center. Whether you’re working on poetry, fiction or creative nonfiction, our tutors can help you strengthen your writing and develop your voice. Schedule an appointment for personalized feedback on your creative projects.

Through our partnership with the Prison Education Initiative, students also collaborate to publish Resilient Dimension, an annual literary journal featuring creative work. Contact us at writingcenter@uidaho.edu to learn more or get involved.

Looking to connect with other writers? Join our weekly Creative Writing Circle or Journal Writing Club to share work, receive encouragement and stay inspired.

Work as a Writing Center tutor

Do you love writing and want a meaningful on-campus job where you can support your fellow students? The Writing Center hires passionate University of Idaho students who are eager to help others become more confident and effective writers.

As a tutor, you’ll work one-with-one with students to build confidence and writing and communication skills. You’ll also have opportunities to conduct writing research, attend national conferences and complete community-based internships that support and promote literacy across Idaho.
