Math and statistics support at U of I

University of Idaho’s Department of Mathematics and Statistical Science is committed to student success across campus. We support learning through two key resources: the Math Assistance Center (MAC) and the Statistical Assistance Center (SAC).

We serve students enrolled in foundational and advanced courses like Math 1080, 1143, 1144, 1160, 1170, 1750, 2750 and Stat 1530, 2510, 3010 and 4310 — courses required by many majors across campus. Whether you need help solving problems, understanding concepts or building confidence in math, we’re here to help.

    Math Assistance Center (MAC)

Located in Brink Hall across from the ISUB food court, the MAC provides a welcoming space for students to study, collaborate and get help from peer tutors, graduate assistants and faculty.

The MAC is more than a tutoring center. It’s a place to:

    • Improve your problem-solving and critical thinking
    • Practice explaining math using multiple representations
    • Build habits of independent learning
    • Understand why math works, not just how it works

Whether you come in with a group or on your own, you’ll find support tailored to your needs.

    MAC tutoring sessions

Location: Brink Hall, across from the ISUB food court

Services: Drop-in support — no appointment needed

Format: In-person and online. (Online only during the summer.)

    Courses: Math 1080, 1143, 1144, 1160, 1170, 1750 and 2750
