SI-PASS (peer assisted study sessions)
Why attend SI-PASS?
Students who regularly attend SI-PASS sessions:
- Earn a half to a full letter grade higher than non-attendees
- Gain a stronger understanding of class material
- Learn study skills that apply to other courses
Study smarter with peer support
Struggling with a tough class? You’re not alone. SI-PASS (Supplemental Instruction Peer-Assisted Study Sessions) offers free, peer-led study groups for historically challenging courses.
SI-PASS is open to all students enrolled in supported classes — there’s no special sign-up required. These weekly sessions help you review course content, prepare for exams and build effective study habits.
What happens in an SI-PASS session?
Each session is about an hour and is designed to help you actively engage with the material. Led by trained peer leaders (students who’ve successfully completed the course), you’ll work on:
- Reviewing lectures and readings
- Solving problems as a group
- Practicing for quizzes and exams
- Developing critical thinking and learning strategies
SI-PASS leaders are not there to re-teach missed classes. They attend lectures alongside you and focus sessions on reinforcing and understanding the most challenging concepts.
SI-PASS schedule
SI-PASS sessions are held weekly during the fall and spring semesters. Sessions start the second week of classes and run through the week before finals.
No sessions are held during:
- Finals week
- Fall break
- Spring break
- University holidays or closures
