The Science of Chemicals
Explore the properties of chemicals and other substances, how they interact, the changes they undergo, and the natural laws that cause those changes and apply your knowledge in a career in education, medicine, private industry and forensic science.
Math courses are especially important. A
sound background in HS mathematics is a distinct advantage; students are also advised to take HS chemistry and physics courses.
There are 4 degree options in the B.S. Chemistry program: General; Professional; PreMed; Forensics. The first 2 years of these options are essentially the same; students can switch options at any time.
Chemistry emphasizes participation of undergraduates in research. This is usually done for credit, via CHEM 299 or CHEM 491.
