Student ensembles
Perform, connect, inspire
At the Lionel Hampton School of Music, we believe that music creates community. Whether you are a music major, minor or non-major, you are invited to be involved in our outstanding performing ensembles.
From jazz bands to orchestras, choirs to the iconic Vandal Marching Band, our ensembles offer students opportunities to create, perform, grow as musicians and form lifelong connections. Students perform in dynamic groups that explore diverse genres and styles, building musicianship, leadership skills and friendships that last beyond campus.
Explore our ensembles
All ensemble auditions are held during the first week of classes, with some starting as early as the second day. To secure your spot, sign up the week before classes begin or no later than the first day of the semester. Contact the faculty director of your chosen ensemble to schedule your audition.

In addition to a great musical experience, students also receive a scholarship each year they participate in the Marching Band. No audition is required. However, Vandal Marching Band requires early sign-up during summer.
