Post-graduate support
Educational opportunities and support don’t end upon graduation. A robust Bar Success Program, a dedicated faculty for career services and a vast alumni network, are all ways the College of Law is here to support you throughout your legal education and beyond.
Vandal Bar Success Program
The Vandal Bar Success Program is a free, post-graduate resource for University of Idaho College of Law alumni preparing for the bar exam. The program offers workshops, mock bar exams, individualized coaching and performance feedback — all designed to complement your commercial bar prep course, such as Themis or Barbri.
Rooted in practical application, the program uses real bar exam questions licensed directly from the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). Participants receive written feedback from a team of coaches, including law faculty and licensed attorneys, to help improve bar exam essays and performance test answers.
You’ll also benefit from one-on-one coaching sessions to stay on track and make the most of your study time — without overloading your schedule.
Why participate?
- It’s free for all University of Idaho College of Law graduates.
- You’ll get practice with real bar exam questions from the NCBE.
- The program offers mock exams and workshops to build exam-day confidence.
- You’ll receive personalized coaching to guide your bar prep strategy.

Alumni network
As the only law school in the state, U of I’s College of Law boasts an unprecedented relationship with the local courts and business and government leaders in Idaho.
Our alumni comprise a significant percentage of the Idaho State Bar and are seated on the bench at the local, regional, state and federal levels.
Career development
The Career Development Office (CDO) supports students and alumni in becoming successful legal professionals. Our team offers one-on-one counseling, as well as workshops and seminars covering key aspects of legal careers. We also collaborate with employers to host programs on current employment trends and professional development, while providing students with valuable networking opportunities throughout the year.
Career services for law students
CDO offers a wide range of services to help you explore career paths, develop your professional skills and secure employment during and after law school.
Individual counseling and career planning
Meet with a career counselor to receive personalized guidance on job search strategies, networking, interviewing, salary negotiation and application materials. We also help you answer questions like “What kind of law should I practice?” and “How do I break into a specific field?” We recommend meeting with a counselor at least once each semester.
Mock interviews
Practice your interview skills with experienced career counselors or legal professionals. Mock interviews offer realistic practice in a supportive setting — either in person or virtually — and help you build confidence and receive constructive feedback.
On-campus interviews
Employers visit campus each fall and spring to interview students for summer and post-graduate positions. These interviews are a valuable opportunity to connect directly with firms, agencies and other legal employers. Successful summer work may lead to post-graduation job offers.
Career skills programming
Throughout the year, the CDO hosts workshops and events on topics such as résumé and cover letter writing, interviewing, networking and practice area exploration. These programs are designed to help you build your professional toolkit.
Mentoring program (2L students)
Second-year students can participate in a formal mentoring program, which pairs them with practicing attorneys in their area of interest. Mentoring typically occurs during the spring semester and provides insights, advice and valuable professional connections.
Clothing Closet
Need professional attire? Our Clothing Closet provides free new or gently used business wear for interviews, court appearances and networking events. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends, all law students are welcome to select items year-round at no cost.
Law Library
Our libraries in Moscow and Boise support the educational and legal research needs of faculty, students and community members.
Law career fairs
Held annually in Boise and Moscow, connect with employers and explore job opportunities across various legal fields.

The College of Law’s Career Development Office offers a range of services to help you recruit skilled, motivated law students and graduates.
