Tuition waivers for U of I classes are available for eligible U of I employees, spouses and dependents. Review the FAQ on the employee dependent tuition fee reduction for more information.

Non-University of Idaho employee reciprocal agreements for U of I classes

Employees of Boise State University (BSU), Idaho State University (ISU), Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) and College of Western Idaho (CWI) may also attend classes at University of Idaho for reduced fees with the following limitations:

  • Student must be admitted and enrolled in a degree program at University of Idaho.
  • Courses are taught in-person (web, hybrid, or virtual meeting courses are not eligible).
  • The benefit covers up to 6 credits per fall/spring Semester and 3 credits in summer.
  • The benefit is limited to the BSU, ISU, LCSC or CWI employees only. Spouses or dependents aren’t eligible.
  • Reduced fees aren't available for special programs that are self-sustaining. View a list of self-sustaining programs.
  • For CWI employees only, the benefit is limited to 25 CWI employees per semester.

Applying for tuition and fee waivers

Tuition Waiver forms for University of Idaho employees and their eligible spouses/dependents are now available online.

  • You must be registered for the selected term before submitting the form. The form will automatically populate with your personal and registration details, which cannot be edited.
  • Forms are processed once per term. If your registration changes, you’ll need to submit a new form to adjust your fees.
  • Paper forms will only be accepted for eligible non-employee applicants and their spouses/dependents.

If you have questions, contact the Student Accounts/Cashier’s Office at acctrec@uidaho.edu.

Staff Registration Permit

Fill out the Staff Registration Waiver online.

  • The online form MUST be initiated by the student (staff member) and will auto-fill with your name and supervisor information.
  • Once the online form is submitted, it will automatically be routed to your supervisor for approval. Your supervisor will determine if the form needs a second approver and will provide this information in the form, before approving it.

If you are eligible to use the Staff Registration Permit, but you are not a U of I employee, access the old Staff Registration Waiver paper form.

Staff Spouse Registration Permit

Fill out the Staff Spouse Registration Permit online.

  • The online form MUST be initiated by the student (spouse) and will auto-fill with your name; your spouse’s information will auto-fill after you enter their Vandal ID.
  • Once the online form is submitted, it will automatically be routed to your spouse for approval. Your spouse will need to answer a few questions before approving it.

If you are eligible to use the Staff Spouse Registration Permit (student), but your spouse (staff) is not a U of I employee, access the old Staff Spouse Registration Permit paper form.

Employee Dependent Tuition Fee Reduction Form — temporarily unavailable for maintenance (see notice below)

NOTICE: The policy change to the Employee Dependent Tuition Fee Reduction, which allows two dependents to receive the benefit — one at 50% and one at 25% — has been approved. We are currently working with our IT team to update both the Dependent Tuition Fee Reduction Waiver form and the associated processing workflow.

Our goal is to have the updated form available for use by the second or third week of August. We appreciate your patience during this transition and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for students and their families.

If you would like to be added to an email list to receive direct notification once the new form is available, please email us at acctrec@uidaho.edu.

Fill out the Employee Dependent Tuition Fee Reduction Form online.

  • The online form MUST be initiated by the student (dependent) and will auto-fill with your name and parent’s/legal guardian’s information when you enter their Vandal ID.
  • Once the online form is submitted, it will automatically be routed to your parent for approval. Your parent will need to answer a few questions before approving it.

If you are eligible to use the Employee Dependent Tuition Fee Reduction Form, but your parent/legal guardian is not a U of I employee, access the old Employee Dependent Tuition Fee Reduction Form paper form here.
