Anaerobic Digestion Basics

CIS1215

December 31, 2013

Anaerobic digestion offers the dairy and food-processing industries a way to address environmental concerns associated with waste, generate renewable energy, cut bedding-material costs, reduce pathogens and weed seeds associated with manure, and improve manure nutrient availability to plants. This publication explains how anaerobic digestion works, discusses important factors that affect performance and describes four kinds of anaerobic digesters suitable for animal farms.
