  • M.S., Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, Computer Science & Technology, 2009.
  • B.S., Jilin University, Changchun, China, Computer Science & Technology, 2005.

Boyu Zhang began his academic career at Jilin University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Technology in 2005. He then pursued further studies at Harbin Institute of Technology, receiving a Master's degree in 2009 and a Doctorate in Computer Science & Technology in 2016. After completing his doctorate, Zhang moved to Utah to join the Utah State University's Department of Computer Science as a postdoctoral research fellow.

In 2020, he relocated to Moscow and joined the University of Idaho's Department of Mathematics as a postdoctoral research fellow. His journey at the University of Idaho continued with postdoctoral research fellow positions at IMCI in 2021 and Computational Data Science with a focus on AI at IIDS in 2022.

As of August 2023, Zhang has been a faculty member in the Computer Science Department at the University of Idaho. His research centers on Machine Learning and Computer Vision, with current projects involving AI in wildlife conservation, cell dynamics analysis through Computer Vision, and the use of large language models for multimodal medical imaging diagnosis.
