Jeremy Gallardo continues, with pleasure, at Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Jeremy Gallardo, a 2015 Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate in Theatre Arts in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, is now entering his third season as a company member with the Tony award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF).

“Since leaving Idaho I have been, as cheesy as it sounds, living my dream,” he said.

While at the University of Idaho, Gallardo was seen in numerous productions including "Cymbeline" directed by Vinecia Coleman, Christina Holaday and Matt Foss; "A Christmas Carol" directed by David Lee-Painter, and "The Cherry Orchard," directed by Rob Caisley.

Through the Rex Rabold Fellowship, Gallardo continued his trajectory working side by side with a diverse company of actors driving an eleven-show repertory season in Ashland, Oregon. Over the course of three seasons with OSF, Gallardo has played Prince John in "Henry IV" parts 1&2, reprising the role in Henry V in the intimate staging. He will return to the Elizabethan outdoor stage in 2018’s "Love’s Labor’s Lost."

“This is my first experience doing a long running Shakespeare - 160 performance and some weeks where we had six to seven shows. At three hours apiece, that’s nothing to sneeze at,” he said.

“In my time away from Idaho I’ve been able to pursue my dream. The coolest thing about being at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is feeling as if I was prepared and could keep up. I miss Idaho every day and I hold everything that I learned very close to my heart. Every time a Rex Rabold comes in, it’s my honor to show them the ropes so that their time here can be as fulfilling as mine has been,” Gallardo said.

“Idaho taught me to lead with my heart, to stay on the balls of my feet, and to lean in. Thank you so much to Kelly, David Lee Painter, Robert Caisley and the entire Vandal family. Idaho put me on track to live the exact life that I wanted to live and I will always be thankful,” he said.
