Markie McBrayer is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Idaho. Her research focuses on American politics and policy, with a focus on political institutions, representation, and social inequality in the American context, particularly at the local level. Recently, Markie has been exploring the effects of electing women to local positions of power and the subsequent policy effects. Prior to earning her doctorate, she worked as a transportation consultant in the Boston area and thus understands the need to ground research and teaching in praxis.
