Graham Hubbs is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Politics and Philosophy at the University of Idaho. He uses social ontological methods to study topics that lie at the intersection of philosophy, politics, and economics.

  • Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh, 2008
  • B.A., Washington University, 1999

Dr. Hubbs's research uses historically informed social ontological methods to study topics at the intersection of philosophy, political science, and economics, including the central case of the nature of money. He examines money as an instance of collective intentionality. His approach to this and to all matters of collective intentionality grows out of his work on practical rationality: on this, he takes a neo-Aristotelian position on the nature of practical reasons and practical reasoning. Much of this work on practical rationality involves close readings of G. E. M. Anscombe's Intention.
