Posted Mon, 15 May 2017 09:46:00 -0700At the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) 2017 Annual Board Meeting in Florianopolis, Brazil, USAC granted Emeritus Faculty status to Richard Keenan, a retired University of Idaho faculty member and chair of the former Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (FLL) in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. The honor cited Keenan's belief in the importance of foreign language study and education abroad in providing transformational learning experiences for students. USAC is composed of 33 US member universities and 48 international partner institutions. More than 4000 students participate in USAC programs each year. UI has been a member of USAC since 1992. Amaya Amigo graduated in May 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the College of Art and Architecture. She will use her award to spend 13 months pursuing a Master of Public Administration at SDA School of Management in Italy. Read more
Posted Mon, 24 Apr 2017 08:47:00 -0700Longtime UI faculty member Alfred Wilbur (Fred) Jensen, 79, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, April 1, 2017, at his home. Fred was born on July 2, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho to Anton “Tony”Wilhelm and Helen May Jensen. He spent the first five years of his life on the family farm in Crystal, Bannock County, Idaho.
