A landmark of tradition and purpose

University of Idaho’s Administration Building has stood as a proud symbol of Vandal history for more than a century. Originally constructed in 1907 after a fire destroyed the previous structure, the Admin Building was completed in four phases over 10 years. Today, it remains one of the most iconic and recognizable buildings on campus.

Beyond its historic presence, the Admin Building is home to several key academic and administrative offices, including:

  • Office of the President and Office of the Provost
  • College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS)
  • Department of History
  • Department of Modern Languages and Cultures
  • Office of Tribal Relations
  • Martin Institute
  • Office of Information Technology (OIT)
  • General-use classrooms and reservable meeting spaces

Admin Auditorium

Located in the north wing of the Administration Building, the Admin Auditorium is a historic venue with timeless charm. Originally built in 1912 as part of the building’s second construction phase, the auditorium has been carefully preserved, with only minor updates to enhance comfort and accessibility.

This beautiful space features:

  • Classic stained-glass windows
  • Red brick and sandstone architectural details
  • Fixed theater seating for up to 450 guests
  • A deeper stage and updated lighting from 1980s renovations

Ideal for performances, lectures and academic events, the Admin Auditorium brings a unique sense of place to every gathering.

Reserve a space in the Admin Building

Whether you're planning a lecture, concert, ceremony or campus event, the Administration Building offers a memorable setting. The Admin Auditorium provides a premier performance venue, while the Admin Lawn is a great choice for outdoor receptions and celebrations.
