Administration Building
A landmark of tradition and purpose
University of Idaho’s Administration Building has stood as a proud symbol of Vandal history for more than a century. Originally constructed in 1907 after a fire destroyed the previous structure, the Admin Building was completed in four phases over 10 years. Today, it remains one of the most iconic and recognizable buildings on campus.
Beyond its historic presence, the Admin Building is home to several key academic and administrative offices, including:
- Office of the President and Office of the Provost
- College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS)
- Department of History
- Department of Modern Languages and Cultures
- Office of Tribal Relations
- Martin Institute
- Office of Information Technology (OIT)
- General-use classrooms and reservable meeting spaces
Admin Auditorium
Located in the north wing of the Administration Building, the Admin Auditorium is a historic venue with timeless charm. Originally built in 1912 as part of the building’s second construction phase, the auditorium has been carefully preserved, with only minor updates to enhance comfort and accessibility.
This beautiful space features:
- Classic stained-glass windows
- Red brick and sandstone architectural details
- Fixed theater seating for up to 450 guests
- A deeper stage and updated lighting from 1980s renovations

Administration Auditorium
The Admin Auditorium serves as a flexible venue for academic and community events. During the day, it often functions as a classroom. In the evenings and on weekends, it transforms into a space for performances, guest speakers and special programming.

- Lionel Hampton School of Music performances and Jazz Festival events
- Guest lectures and speaking series

Administration Lawn
This beautiful outdoor space is divided into three areas: Northwest, Northeast and East Lawn. It’s a popular choice for receptions, weddings and campus gatherings. Enjoy scenic views of the Admin Building’s gothic architecture and surrounding green spaces.

- Weekends: Closed
