The heart of U of I Athletics

The P1FCU-Kibbie Activity Center — known affectionately as the Kibbie Dome — is one of University of Idaho’s most iconic and versatile facilities. Home to Vandal Athletics, this dynamic venue hosts a wide range of student, campus and community events every year. From new student kick-off events and marching band performances to athletic competitions and concerts, the Kibbie Dome is a vibrant gathering place for tens of thousands of guests each year.

With its vast interior and adaptable layout, the Dome is a top choice for local and regional organizations seeking a quality venue in Northern Idaho.

    Building history

The Kibbie Dome is a one-of-a-kind indoor athletic stadium and event center located on University of Idaho’s campus in Moscow. Officially named the P1FCU-Kibbie Activity Center, it serves as a multi-sport home for Vandal football, basketball, soccer, tennis and indoor track and field.

Its distinctive arched roof spans more than 400 feet, reaching a central height of 144 feet. The building covers over 93,000 square feet — a true engineering landmark. It was named after alumnus William H. Kibbie, who generously donated $300,000 to help fund the roof and walls completed in 1975.

The Dome’s development happened in three phases:

    • 1971: Opened as a concrete stadium with a grass infield.
    • 1972: Artificial turf was installed, making it usable year-round.
    • 1975: The dome roof and end walls were added, enclosing the space and transforming it into an all-weather facility.

In fall 2017, it became the first NCAA indoor soccer venue, serving as home field for the Vandal women’s soccer team. In 2011, the Litehouse Center was added to enhance the fan experience with premium seating, thanks to a generous donation from Bud and June Ford.

Student fees, alumni support and university funding continue to play a vital role in maintaining and upgrading this iconic facility.

    Promoter's guide

This guide offers key information for concert and event promoters interested in hosting events at the P1FCU-Kibbie Dome. If you have questions not addressed here or would like to inquire about booking the venue, contact us at events@uidaho.edu.

    Capacity and configurations

We offer flexible staging configurations to fit events of all sizes — from intimate theater-style seating for around 4,000 to large-scale setups accommodating up to 17,000 guests. The P1FCU-Kibbie Dome also features newly constructed suites and premium club seating with private, elevated views. Backstage spaces, meeting rooms and reception areas are available to support your event logistics, along with in-house audio and video resources.

    Markets

The Palouse region is home to a diverse and dynamic population. While rooted in agriculture, the area also boasts a vibrant academic community. In the twin cities of Moscow and Pullman alone, there are approximately 53,600 residents — more than half of whom are college students. Across the broader Inland Northwest region, the population exceeds 400,000, including nearly 60,000 students.

Moscow is known as the “Heart of the Arts” for its thriving creative scene and local media — including television, print and radio — serve key markets such as Moscow, Pullman, Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston and Clarkston, providing strong regional reach for events and promotions.

    Labor and equipment

The P1FCU-Kibbie Dome offers flexibility with scheduling, labor rates and equipment rentals. Although the Kibbie Dome is used for University of Idaho athletic events, there are a number of open dates available.

The Kibbie Dome offers flexible configurations for a wide range of events. In one layout — the Cowan Spectrum — the space serves as a basketball court and can accommodate up to 7,000 spectators. The full floor spans 93,550 square feet, making it ideal for sporting events, ceremonies, concerts and more.

    Litehouse Center
