    The Panhellenic Association (PHA) at U of I consists of 10 sorority chapters, forming the largest women’s leadership community on campus. These chapters offer opportunities for leadership, community involvement and personal growth.

    About the Panhellenic Association (PHA)

    The Panhellenic Association (PHA) is the key organization supporting and advocating for sorority life at U of I. PHA encourages leadership, belonging, academic success and service through educational, philanthropic and community activities year-round.

    • Our purpose: Founded in 1902, the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) supports collegiate and alumnae chapters, fostering cooperation between Greek organizations and colleges.
    • Our mission: As the primary advocacy group for sororities, the NPC strives to advance and strengthen the sorority experience.
    • Our vision: The National Panhellenic Conference works toward the collective advancement of the sorority experience.

    Violation Types

    • Health and Safety: Violations or concerns regarding Risk Management, Alcohol/Drugs or Hazing
    • Academic: Chapter falls below National Panhellenic Conference, governing council or individual organization standards
    • Financial: Organization is in financial default with their inter/national executive office or the university

    Status Definitions

    • Disciplinary Probation: serves to notify an organization that it must avoid any further violations for a specified period of time and complete assigned outcomes in order to avoid additional disciplinary action. Chapters on probation are not in good standing with the university.
    • Interim Suspension: a status for a specified period of time during which any subsequent finding of responsibility for a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or any other university policy may result in the outcome of Suspension. Certain chapter activities or operations may be paused during this period.
    • Suspension: a status that may include, but is not limited to, the revocation of the university's recognition of the organization for a stated or an indeterminate period of time, cessation of university funding, restriction of operations at the university and restriction of use of university resources.
