The Panhellenic Association (PHA) at U of I consists of 10 sorority chapters, forming the largest women’s leadership community on campus. These chapters offer opportunities for leadership, community involvement and personal growth.

About the Panhellenic Association (PHA)

The Panhellenic Association (PHA) is the key organization supporting and advocating for sorority life at U of I. PHA encourages leadership, belonging, academic success and service through educational, philanthropic and community activities year-round.

  • Our purpose: Founded in 1902, the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) supports collegiate and alumnae chapters, fostering cooperation between Greek organizations and colleges.
  • Our mission: As the primary advocacy group for sororities, the NPC strives to advance and strengthen the sorority experience.
  • Our vision: The National Panhellenic Conference works toward the collective advancement of the sorority experience.
  • Our values: We are guided by the core values of friendship, leadership, service, knowledge, integrity, and community, with an emphasis on trust, transparency, accountability and mutual respect.

Alpha Gamma Delta

Alpha Gamma Delta is an international women's fraternity that empowers members to lead lives of purpose through sisterhood, scholarship and service. The organization fosters lifelong learning, meaningful friendships and impactful contributions to the world.

Alpha Phi

Alpha Phi is a values-based organization focused on sisterhood, scholarship and service, inspiring women to grow personally and professionally.

Delta Delta Delta

Delta Delta Delta fosters lifelong bonds of friendship and personal growth while encouraging leadership and strong moral character. It promotes mutually beneficial relationships with the university and encourages members to serve with integrity.

Delta Gamma

Delta Gamma encourages members to “Do Good” by promoting personal integrity, social responsibility and intellectual honesty.

Delta Zeta

Delta Zeta offers a lifelong sisterhood rooted in values of curiosity, generosity, empowerment and service. Its philanthropy focuses on speech and hearing, along with scholarships and community engagement.

Gamma Phi Beta

Gamma Phi Beta inspires the highest type of womanhood by encouraging sisterhood, character development, and service to others. The sorority promotes intellectual and personal growth, lifelong friendship, and community engagement.

Kappa Alpha Theta

Kappa Alpha Theta nurtures women through social, intellectual and moral growth during college and throughout life. It offers a lifelong sisterhood rooted in leadership, friendship and purpose.

Kappa Delta

Kappa Delta builds confidence in women through friendship, leadership and service. Its members are encouraged to live with integrity, serve others and pursue personal and professional growth.

Kappa Kappa Gamma

Kappa Kappa Gamma fosters lifelong bonds of friendship, intellectual development and personal growth. The organization promotes ethical leadership and a commitment to making positive change.

Pi Beta Phi

Pi Beta Phi develops women of integrity and intellect while fostering meaningful friendships and a lifelong commitment to service. Its mission is to promote leadership, learning and philanthropy through a supportive sisterhood.

Violation Types

  • Health and Safety: Violations or concerns regarding Risk Management, Alcohol/Drugs or Hazing
  • Academic: Chapter falls below National Panhellenic Conference, governing council or individual organization standards
  • Financial: Organization is in financial default with their inter/national executive office or the university

Status Definitions

  • Disciplinary Probation: serves to notify an organization that it must avoid any further violations for a specified period of time and complete assigned outcomes in order to avoid additional disciplinary action. Chapters on probation are not in good standing with the university.
  • Interim Suspension: a status for a specified period of time during which any subsequent finding of responsibility for a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or any other university policy may result in the outcome of Suspension. Certain chapter activities or operations may be paused during this period.
  • Suspension: a status that may include, but is not limited to, the revocation of the university's recognition of the organization for a stated or an indeterminate period of time, cessation of university funding, restriction of operations at the university and restriction of use of university resources.
