About the Interfraternity Council (IFC)
The IFC is a student-led governance body composed of an elected executive board and voting representatives from each fraternity chapter at U of I. The IFC is committed to promoting fraternity success, leadership, integrity and collaboration across the campus community.
- Our purpose: The IFC strives to create an enriching experience for its members, based on the principles and values of our fraternity organizations.
- Our mission: The IFC promotes stronger relationships between chapters and the university, while adhering to the policies set by the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The council fosters interfraternal collaboration and partnerships with campus administration, alumni and chapter headquarters.
- Our vision: The IFC works to create an environment conducive to the success of its chapters and the overall fraternity experience.

- Accountability: Members hold each other to the standards of their fraternal ideals.

Violation Types
- Health and Safety: Violations or concerns regarding Risk Management, Alcohol/Drugs or Hazing
- Academic: Chapter falls below North American Interfraternity Conference, governing council, or individual organization standards
- Financial: Organization is in financial default with their inter/national executive office or the university
Status Definitions
- Disciplinary Probation: serves to notify an organization that it must avoid any further violations for a specified period of time and complete assigned outcomes in order to avoid additional disciplinary action. Chapters on probation are not in good standing with the university.
- Interim Suspension: a status for a specified period of time during which any subsequent finding of responsibility for a violation of the Student Code of Conduct or any other university policy may result in the outcome of Suspension. Certain chapter activities or operations may be paused during this period.
- Suspension: a status that may include, but is not limited to, the revocation of the university's recognition of the organization for a stated or an indeterminate period of time, cessation of university funding, restriction of operations at the university and restriction of use of university resources.
