Undergraduate Research Symposium

Experience the curiosity, creativity, and achievement that make the University of Idaho community unique.

Each spring, the Office of Undergraduate Research hosts its annual Undergraduate Research Symposium — a university-wide event to showcase and celebrate the research and scholarly work in all disciplines by undergraduates at University of Idaho.

This event is open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to explore the kinds of experiential learning and discovery happening on campus every day.

Why attend?

  • Discover the wide variety of student research and creative work underway at U of I
  • Engage with students as they share their projects and ideas
  • See how undergraduate experiences go beyond the classroom, building skills that extend into future opportunities
  • Get inspired by the innovative spirit that defines the Vandal community

2025 Symposium details

April 21, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Memorial Gym

For presenters

As a student presenter, you'll:

  • Practice your presentation skills
  • Share research with an audience of peers and faculty
  • Participate in scholarly aspects of research
  • Boost your resume

Prepare posters summarizing your projects and present them during the event. This experience helps you develop valuable communication skills and gain recognition for your work.

Poster setup begins at 2 p.m., with presenting times from 2:30–3:30 or 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Posters (48" wide by 36" high) are displayed on provided backer boards and easels; students bring their printed posters and binder clips to attach them.

Abstract Submission

Presenters submit a brief abstract or artist’s statement (200-300 words) describing their work. These are reviewed by mentors and submitted by April 5 via the Abstract Submission form.
