Accrediting continuing education and continuing professional development  for Idaho's healthcare professionals

University of Idaho’s Office of Continuing Education in the School of Health and Medical Professions (SHAMP) helps organizations deliver accredited continuing education (CE) and continuing professional development (CPD) activities for healthcare professionals. As a jointly accredited provider, we support organizations in planning, accrediting and delivering continuing education programs, so your learners receive recognized, high-quality CE/CPD credits.

    What is Joint Accreditation?

Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education provides a streamlined process for organizations to offer accredited continuing education and continuing professional development activities for multiple healthcare professions through a single application process, fee structure and set of accreditation standards.

Without needing to obtain and maintain separate accreditations for each profession, jointly accredited providers can award continuing education credit for eligible healthcare professions through one unified accreditation system. Joint Accreditation is the first and only accreditation model in the world designed specifically to support team-based continuing education and continuing professional development across multiple healthcare professions.

    Streamline the accreditation process
    • One application, one fee structure, one set of standards for multiple professions
    • Reduced administrative burden for planners and organizations
    Reach multiple healthcare professions
    • Offer CE/CME credit for eligible healthcare professions through a single accredited activity
    • Expand educational opportunities to broader healthcare audiences
    • Support learning across disciplines and practice settings
    Support team-based learning
    • Design educational activities that encourage healthcare professionals to learn from, with and about one another
    • Recognize and promote interprofessional continuing education and continuing professional development principles
    • Strengthen collaboration across the healthcare team
    Improve patient outcomes
    • Support evidence-based research
    • Promote collaborative practice and quality improvement
    • Help improve patient, community and population health outcomes

    • Accredit conferences, workshops and trainings
    • Provide CE/CME credit for eligible professions
    • Ensure compliance with Joint Accreditation standards
    • Manage evaluations and reporting
    • Utilize our learning management system (LMS) to facilitate your event registration
A consultation is required to get started

Before submitting an application, all organizations who wish to partner with us must complete an intake meeting with the SHAMP Office of Continuing Education. This ensures your continuing education or professional development activity is a good fit for accreditation and that you have everything needed to meet Joint Accreditation standards.

    3. Deliver: The partner organization offers the educational activity or professional development program to their intended audience.
