Sponsor academic and research projects
Sponsoring student research or projects is an excellent way to engage students. Because U of I students consistently rise to the occasion, your organization will benefit.
Student internships, externships and co-op programs
Create opportunities to address your strategic workforce development goals while helping U of I students gain industry insight and professional experience. We work with industry partners to identify experiential learning opportunities that can allow students to connect potential with future employers. To learn more about these programs, contact careerservices@uidaho.edu or 208-885-6122.
- Internships allow students to explore and obtain real-world experience in a career field of interest, while providing employers the opportunity to build relationships with future employees.
- Externships are opportunities for students to shadow a professional in their prospective industry’s setting, confirm they are on the right career path and make industry connections. Students often earn academic credit instead of pay.
- In cooperative education (co-op) opportunities, students alternate semesters of academic study with terms of full-time (paid) employment related to their academic and career goals. A co-op participant can gain up to a year of career experience before graduating. Many employers use their co-op program as an important source for future talent.
