Commencement Information for Boise Faculty
We are looking forward to the University of Idaho Commencement in Boise at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time Tuesday, May 18, at the Idaho Botanical Garden. We hope you plan to attend.
U of I branded face coverings will be provided for graduates, faculty and staff participating in the event. Face coverings will be required for all guests and participants. All seating will be socially distanced.
Who Should Attend
The platform party will be limited to members who have a speaking role in the ceremony. All others will sit in the reserved faculty seating area. Deans from each college with programs in Boise are encouraged to attend. Faculty are also encouraged to attend and congratulate their students.
The deadline for ordering faculty regalia has passed. Please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 208-885-6154 to inquire if additional regalia is available if needed.
Faculty members attending the commencement ceremony should report to Idaho Botanical Garden, dressed in regalia by 7:15 p.m. Mountain time. Signage will direct faculty to the appropriate location for line-up. The Procession will begin approximately at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time.
After opening remarks and recognition of honors, students will approach the stage to receive their diploma cover. Students will not be able to shake hands with the deans or president, but will be able to have a socially distanced photograph. Doctoral and masters candidates will need to arrive to the ceremony wearing their hoods. No hooding will take place during the ceremonies. Faculty should remain seated and congratulate their students from afar as they are lined up to receive their diploma cover. Faculty can also help by reminding students to wear masks, remain socially distant and encouraging students to remain through the entire ceremony.
