Federal Series Online
In addition to formal degrees and certificates, we offer opportunities for professionals to continue their education through our online and hybrid (online lectures & in person workshops) courses. This includes professionals working for the federal agencies that are looking to fulfill educational requirements, that in combination with work experience, may help meet qualification standards for specific GS Professional and Scientific Positions.
For federal agency employees seeking to fulfill educational requirements, we always recommend that you contact your Human Resources Office Prior to registering for any courses to confirm that courses are eligible for your agency’s interpretation of the requirements.
To learn more about the Federal Classifications and Qualifications, please visit the Office of Personnel Management website.
Additional information on the Federal Classifications and Qualifications, and how that process works for the GS-454 Rangeland Management classification, can be viewed in this video produced by Dr. Karen Launchbaugh, current President of the Society for Range Management. Dr. Launchbaugh is also the Director of the Rangeland Center at the University of Idaho and Professor of Rangeland Ecology in the Department of Forest, Rangeland and Fire Sciences.
Currently, we offer courses that when combined with work experience can help meet the qualification standards associated with the following GS Professional and Scientific Positions.
"As a permanent employee with the United States Forest Service, I decided to pursue an online Master’s degree in order to meet the 401 Series requirements. This is one of the best decisions I have made thus far in my career. The quality of instruction, the variety of courses, and the willingness of the professors to accommodate my hectic schedule during the fire season are reasons I know I made the right decision."
- Darcy McDaniel, former Hotshot, now US Forest Service Assistant Director, Fire and Aviation Management
