Understand the human dimensions of natural resources.

The Department of Natural Resources and Society equips tomorrow’s leaders with the skills and knowledge to make a real impact as pioneers, professionals and informed citizens. We create and share knowledge to drive change.

Solving today’s natural resource challenges demands creativity, teamwork and expertise across social and biophysical sciences. Award-winning faculty bring real-world problems into the classroom and take learning into the field. Faculty and students work together on issues ranging from local communities to global challenges.

We offer a bachelors in natural resource enterprise management, an innovative new undergraduate program that looks at the business of natural resources. In addition, the faculty is involved in the policy, planning and management emphasis of the Environmental Science Program.

Our graduate students are involved in cutting edge research with faculty in a variety of areas, from environmental education, natural resource policy, outdoor recreation to  GIS and remote sensing.

We empower the next generation of innovators and change-makers with the education and environment they need to thrive.
