Explore the areas of study U of I College of Natural Resources offers and discover the benefits of pursuing a major rooted in natural resource management and sustainability. Here, you'll build a strong foundation for a rewarding career.

You’ll dive into hands-on exploration and develop the knowledge and research skills essential to your field of study. Explore wildlife conservation and aquatic ecosystem management in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Sciences. In the Department of Forest, Rangeland and Fire Sciences learn about wildfire behavior and sustainable forestry practices to tackle environmental challenges head-on. The Department of Natural Resources and Society offers pathways to develop resource management and entrepreneurial skills that drive impactful change. And through University of Idaho’s interdisciplinary Environmental Science program, students collaborate with faculty across a wide range of subject areas including law, agriculture, engineering and art to understand and address human impacts on the natural world.

Federal Series Program

In addition to formal degrees and certificates, we offer opportunities for professionals to continue their education through our online and hybrid (online lectures and in person workshops) courses.

Students and continuing learners can take advantage of immersive experiences like Semester in the Wild or non-degree certifications like the Federal Series.

Other ways to learn

Beginning your first semester, you’ll learn both in the classroom and outdoors at the McCall Field Campus, putting your knowledge into practice and honing your skills under the guidance of faculty who are invested in your success.
