Become a co-op program industry partner

University of Idaho is proud to offer one of the West’s few comprehensive Co-op Education programs. Open to all majors, the program allows students to gain on-the-job experience through full-or part-time work for three to 12 months in their industry, anytime throughout the year.

As a Co-op Education Program partner, you’ll help shape the next generation of professionals while gaining fresh perspectives and energy from talented Vandals. Join us in providing valuable experience that prepares students for success — and gives your company a competitive edge.

Learn more about Co-op Program Employer expectations.

Employer benefits

  • Access Vandal talent year-round to support your business needs and projects.
  • Go beyond traditional internships with longer-term co-op placements that provide deeper engagement and value.
  • Reduce recruitment costs by evaluating and training potential future hires during their co-op experience.
  • Bring fresh ideas and energy to your team with talented students offering new perspectives and innovative solutions.
  • Boost your brand visibility at Idaho’s premier research university.
  • Make a lasting impact by mentoring students through meaningful, immersive experiences.
  • Strengthen industry connections by collaborating with nationally recognized faculty.

How to become a Co-op program industry partner

Interested in taking on a Co-op? Reach out to the team and get things started. We’ll supply a Co-op Team and often a site visit, to discuss the support and resources available for a Co-op experience customized for your brand. Read more about industry expectations.

Co-op positions are developed by the employer, submitted on Handshake, and approved by the Co-op Coordinator early in the semester prior to the position starting (September and January). Download this helpful guide for creating a strong Co-op job description.
