    Centers, studios and labs

    Student Design Center

The Student Design Center is the core our college. Students from all CAA disciplines come together here to collaborate, access design resources and utilize the most current technologies. Open 24/7 with a VandalCard, the center offers access to cutting-edge design software, large-format printing, scanners, material libraries, equipment checkout and more. With a student lounge, meeting spaces and technical support, it’s where ideas come to life.

    Urban Design Center in Boise

The Urban Design Center (UDC) is the hub for our Boise-based students. Located in the heart of downtown Boise, the UDC provides studio spaces where students in architecture, interior architecture and design and landscape architecture work together on a diverse range of projects in urban environments and the surrounding region.

    Technical Design Studio

Shop and fabrication activities play an important role in the College of Art and Architecture’s course curriculum. The Technical Design Studio is a fully functional wood shop and digital fabrication lab where all CAA students can develop fabrication skills and realize their design goals.

    Virtual Technology and Design Lab

The Virtual Technology Laboratory specializes in innovative interdisciplinary research in simulation, virtualization and social-ecological systems — advancing how we visualize, design and understand complex environments.

The MFA Exhibition, held in the Ridenbaugh Gallery and Reflections Gallery, is photographed Friday, March 28, 2025.
