  • Affordable tuition: We offer competitive tuition rates, and through the Western Regional Graduate Program, residents of 16 western states and territories qualify for in-state tuition.  
  • Two dynamic campuses: Choose between our Moscow campus, nestled in a traditional college town, or our Boise campus, located in the heart of Idaho’s legal and governmental hub.  
  • Personalized attention: With an average enrollment of about 300 students, our community fosters close relationships between students and faculty, ensuring individualized support throughout your legal education.  
  • Strong outcomes: U of I Law graduates are well-prepared for the bar exam and have a strong track record of employment.
  • Three optional areas of emphasis: Specialize in business law, Native American law or natural resources and conservation law. 

Important dates for Fall 2025 admission

  • Application fee waived — Through Jan. 15, 2025
  • Priority deadline for scholarship and location consideration — Feb. 15, 2025
  • Applications completed by this date receive priority consideration for scholarships and campus location (Moscow or Boise)
  • Final deadline — June 30, 2025
  • Scholarship/location preference may still be available but is not guaranteed

Application requirements

To be considered for admission, applicants must:

  • Take the LSAT
    • Free prep resources: LSAC LSAT Prep
  • Register with Credential Assembly Service (CAS)
    • Compiles your academic records and letters of recommendation
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

The following materials must accompany your application:

  • Personal statement — Up to two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font
  • Résumé — Two pages max
  • Letters of recommendation — Minimum of two, up to three accepted
  • Character and fitness addendum — As required by the application

Supplemental materials (optional)

You may also submit:

  • Unique perspectives statement — to provide context on any life circumstances or factors relevant to your application
  • Other supporting materials you believe strengthen your application

Special application types

Transfer applicants

We accept transfers from both ABA- and non-ABA-accredited schools (non-ABA schools must meet ABA standard 505).

Required materials:

  • Transfer essay (max two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font)
  • Letter of standing from your current law school
  • Official law school transcript  
  • Credential assembly service (CAS) report
  • Character and fitness addendum (if applicable)
Visiting applicants

Visiting students must be from ABA-accredited law schools and in the top 50% of their class.

Required materials:

  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Visiting essay (max two pages, double-spaced, 12 pt font)
  • Letter of standing from your current law school  
  • Official law school transcript
  • Credential assembly service (CAS) report
  • Character and fitness addendum (if applicable)
3+3 Accelerated Law Program

The 3+3 Law Program allows students from select institutions to complete undergraduate and law degrees in only six years. Participating schools include University of Idaho, North Idaho College, College of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State and Brigham Young University–Idaho.  

Eligibility criteria:

  • Academic standing: Maintain a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher.  
  • LSAT Score: Achieve an LSAT score at or above the College of Law’s median.  
  • Application timeline: Submit the 3+3 Program Registration Form by May 15 of your sophomore year.
  • Admission application: Apply to College of Law no later than January 15 of your junior year.

After submitting, you’ll receive a notification of complete application email with login credentials to track your status online — up to and including your final decision (admitted, waitlisted or denied).
