I was on the fence about attending; I’m an out-of-state student worried about finances. I told my mom I’d only go if everything went right, and it did just that, so I’m now enrolled for the fall. My favorite part was how helpful and positive staff was. Anybody was always willing to help and reaching out first. I was amazed and felt welcomed.

My favorite part was getting to meet all the people on campus. Not only incoming students but current students and faculty. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and it really helped to put some of my nerves as ease.
Get prepared
Whether you’re attending a virtual or an in-person UIdaho Bound, prepare with these pre-event tips:
Set up your MyUI and VandalMail accounts
Speed up the advising and class registration process by setting up your student account and email early. These electronic accounts are your lifeline to the university. Follow the easy step-by-step account setup instructions.
Be sure to write down your username and password information. Keep it in a safe place and bring it to campus during the event. Remember, this is sensitive information, so don’t share it with anyone.
Request your VandalCard
Request your VandalCard online and have it mailed to you in three to five business days. Select the “mail the card” option and enter.
If you need any assistance, visit support.uidaho.edu. Have your V number (found on your acceptance letter) ready when reaching out for support.
Confirm your major
Your acceptance letter lists the major we have on record for you. If your interests have changed or you need to make a correction, contact the Admissions Office at 208-885-6326. This helps us advise you properly during the event.
If you are unsure about your major, explore U of I’s 120+ options using Degree Finder.
Explore on-campus living
Visit the Housing and Residence Life and Fraternity and Sorority Life websites to learn about the wide range of on-campus living options. This will help you narrow down your choices during your visit.
Want to experience living on campus? Summer lodging is available to see first-hand where first-years live.
Consider bringing your laptop or tablet to UIdaho Bound
Some students and families prefer to bring their laptops or tablets with them to UIdaho Bound to take care of web tasks (including class registration) at the event. Others prefer to use provided hardware (or their phones) and have a lighter load for long walks around campus. The choice is yours.
I enjoyed how clean the campus was and I enjoyed talking to the faculty.

The kickoff was lots of fun, and I really liked how most of the activities were ready before the scheduled time. This allowed us to finish one activity slightly early and get a jumpstart on the next before it was too busy. I enjoyed talking to professors about my major, and everybody was super nice and helpful.
