Applying to U of I as a returning student

Returning to University of Idaho is a straightforward process.

If you've previously attended University of Idaho and are ready to continue your education, use the information below to prepare for the readmission process and complete your application.

Who is considered a returning student?

You are considered a returning student if you previously attended University of Idaho and want to return to continue your studies at the same level of study.

    • Returning undergraduate: Students returning to complete a bachelor's degree or pursue a second bachelor's degree. Undergraduate students who have been away from U of I for more than two years must apply for readmission.
    • Returning graduate: Students returning after an absence of two or more years or pursuing a second graduate degree after earning a graduate degree from U of I. Review this information if you're seeking graduate readmission or applying to a second graduate degree program.

If you previously attended U of I at a different level of study — such as non-degree, certificate or undergraduate — and want to begin a new program at a level where you have not previously enrolled, you must apply as a new student rather than a returning student.

Not sure if you qualify as a returning student? Contact the Admissions Office at admissions@uidaho.edu or 208-885-6326 for help determining your admission status.
