Students, faculty and advisors interested in Boren Awards are invited to attend an information session with a Boren Awards representative 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in IPO conference room (LLC No. 3). Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide funding for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study languages and cultures in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the Middle East. Brolley brings more than 18 years of experience in higher education and worked in multiple capacities within international education, including immigration advising, enrollment management, marketing and recruitment. Host a Pakistani Student This Summer

The International Programs Office (IPO) has opportunities available for U of I employees to host a Pakistani student in their home for 10 days (Aug. 9-18) as a part of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD). This program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the International Research and Exchanges Board in partnership with U of I. Host families will be compensated $140 to host the student. Read more

CLASS Student Receives Cultural Vistas Fellowship

Nicolas Schofield, a history and international studies student from Boise, was among 15 students in the United States named to the 2019 Class of the Cultural Vistas Fellowship. The program offers students fully funded, eight-week internships in Argentina, Germany and Hong Kong. It also includes a pre-departure virtual learning seminar, re-entry seminar and a service project to share learning with their campus and local communities. Schofield will complete his internship in Berlin, Germany, with the host company EU Russia Civil Society Forum. Read more

Host a Russian Student This Summer

The International Programs Office (IPO) is pleased to announce an opportunity to host a Russian student July 28 to Aug. 18 as a part of the Year of Exchange for Russians Program (YEAR). This program is funded by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Russia, and administered by American Councils for International Education in partnership with the University of Idaho. Host families will be compensated $300 to host the student. The purpose of the homestay is to build strong cross-cultural relations with members of the community. After completion of the homestay, students move into dormitories for the start of the academic year but maintain close contact with their family through the remainder of the year. Read more
