General Education Development (GED)

The GED exam is offered to those who do not have but wish to obtain a certificate equivalent to a high school diploma, a common requirement among colleges and employers.

The test includes four subjects: science, social studies, mathematical reasoning and reasoning through language arts. It is possible to take one subject test at a time. If you are under 18, you will need to begin the registration process then fill out a Youth Waiver Form and submit it in-person to our Testing Center or via email to cmhctest@uidaho.edu. Allow one to two days to process and unlock your account so you can continue with the registration process.

If you are a resident of a different state and under 18, a testing administrator from that state will need to unlock your account first, though you can still test at our testing site.

STAMP-Language Proficiency Certification

One of the requirements for a degree in several of the Modern Languages offered at U of I is the Avant STAMP (STAndards-based Measurement of Proficiency) exam, which also serves as a certification in language proficiency. The exam includes assessment of reading, writing, listening and speaking in a variety of languages and results can be used to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy. Total fee is $70. Your registration for a STAMP exam comes with 3-hours testing time included. STAMP exams are untimed and you may take longer than 2 hours if needed. If you need more time than 2 hours to finish your exam, the fee is $10 per additional half hour. Keep in mind that your exam may not extend past 4:30 p.m.

STAMP exams may be taken at a non-U of I testing center as long as the center is NCTA-certified. You will need to contact the center you wish to take the exam at to make sure that they are able and willing to proctor your exam. You must also contact us and arrange to have the necessary information sent to the non-U of I testing facility before the day of your exam. This process will take at least one week to complete. The fee for this service is $10.

Schedule your STAMP-Language Proficiency exam.

Note: We do not schedule appointments for STAMP through phone or email.

Transportations Security Administration (TSA)

TSA tests are offered on select Wednesdays. Registration for this exam takes place during the TSA application process.
