University of Idaho transcripts, grades and academic standing

Your academic records are essential for tracking progress, applying for jobs or graduate school and ensuring eligibility for continued enrollment and financial aid. University of Idaho provides secure access to transcripts, grades and academic standing information to support your educational journey.

Ordering transcripts

An official transcript is a complete record of your coursework, grades and degrees earned at U of I. Transcripts are required for graduate school applications, job opportunities and professional certifications.

How to order an official transcript

Transcripts are securely processed through the National Student Clearinghouse.

  1. Visit the National Student Clearinghouse
  2. Follow the steps to request your official transcript
  3. Choose your delivery method:
    1. Electronic PDF: typically delivered within hours
    2. Mailed paper copy: standard delivery times apply
    3. Expedited shipping: available for an additional fee through FedEx
  4. Pay any applicable fees and submit your request

You can also request official transcripts by mail or fax using the Transcript Request Form.

How to access or request unofficial transcripts

Unofficial transcripts are useful for personal records or informal use but are not considered official by most institutions.

Current and former students can access free, unofficial transcripts through MyUI.

Former students without an active MyUI account can request an unofficial transcript by fax or mail using the Transcript Request Form. Unofficial transcripts sent by mail or fax are neither signed nor sealed.

Note:

  • These transcripts are mailed directly to the student and do not meet requirements for teacher certification or recertification.
  • Most institutions or third parties will not accept transcripts once they have been opened.

Access your unofficial transcript through MyUI:

  • Log in to MyUI
  • Navigate to “Student Records”
  • Select “View Unofficial Transcript”

Understanding your grades

Grades reflect academic performance and determine eligibility for scholarships, financial aid and graduation.

Grade scale

U of I uses a standard 4.0 grading scale. Some courses may be graded pass/fail (P/F) or satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U).

Incomplete grades (I)

An “I” (incomplete) grade may be assigned if a student cannot complete coursework due to extenuating circumstances. Incompletes must be resolved by the deadline set by the instructor, typically within one year.

Grade appeals

If you believe a grade was assigned in error, you may appeal through the official grade appeal process. Contact your instructor first and, if necessary, follow up with your department.

Academic standing

Your academic standing is based on your cumulative GPA and determines eligibility for continued enrollment.

Good standing

Students maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher are considered in good standing.

Academic probation

A student is placed on probation if their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0. While on probation, students must improve their GPA to avoid suspension.

Academic disqualification and reinstatement

Students who do not meet GPA requirements after a probationary period may be disqualified. Options for reinstatement include:

  • Completing coursework at another institution to improve GPA
  • Submitting an appeal for readmission
