Why Army ROTC

The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program trains students to become commissioned officers in the United States Army. Classroom instruction, physical fitness and practical exercises are used to develop college students into leaders, capable of leading their fellow Americans efficiently and effectively. College students enrolled in Army ROTC learn how to succeed in any competitive environment.

Army ROTC teaches military science both in the classroom and through laboratory instruction.

Prospective Cadets

High school students

High school students with leadership potential benefit from the physical and practical exercises that teach you how to succeed in any competitive environment.

Active duty

The Green to Gold program provides selected active-duty enlisted members of the Army an opportunity to complete their baccalaureate degree requirements and obtain a commission.

Graduate students

Graduate students with a minimum of four semesters before graduation can get in on this leadership opportunity and serve as a commissioned officer upon completion.

How to apply

The first step is to apply for admission to University of Idaho. If you’ve already applied or been admitted, reach out to our Army ROTC program specialist at armyrotc_admin@uidaho.edu to schedule your academic planning meeting and take the next step toward becoming an Army officer.
