MOSS outreach programs
Coming to a park, stream or field near you!
1–5 Day field experiences for K–12 students.
The McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS) offers flexible 1–5 day outreach programs either at the University of Idaho McCall Field Campus or in your local school community.
MOSS outreach programs are led by MOSS graduate student field instructors who are participants in our year-long Master of Natural Resources program. These experiences engage groups of 10–15 students in hands-on exploration of ecological and social systems. Students observe their environment, investigate relationships among living and non-living things and reflect on their role within the larger socio-ecological community.
During the day, graduate student Field Instructors participating in a year-long Master of Natural Resources Program facilitate learning experiences, leading groups of 10-15 participants in hands-on exploration of social and ecological communities across Idaho.
Field Instructors guide students through making observations of their environment and investigating intricate relationships between different parts of the ecosystem. Students discuss their own role in the ecosystem and consider how their decisions may impact the greater socio-ecological system.
