Faculty excellence
The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President at University of Idaho supports faculty throughout their careers, from onboarding and networking opportunities to professional development to research assistance. The university also recognizes and celebrates faculty achievements in teaching, research and service throughout the year.
Supporting faculty success
The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty supports faculty in many contexts, collaborating with other offices across the university to recognize and provide research and instructional development for faculty.
How we support you
During the week prior to the fall semester, we welcome our new faculty to University of Idaho through New Faculty Orientation. The annual event gets our colleagues situated within their roles at U of I, helping them have a successful start to their career here. Through the Newer Faculty Success series, we provide ongoing support for faculty as they navigate their first years at U of I.
Faculty professional development support
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is dedicated to the success of all faculty, graduate students and academic programs. We provide faculty, course and curriculum development support for all faculty.
The University of Idaho Faculty Gathering is a monthly meeting for the purpose of supporting social relationships and intellectual interests. These get-togethers further the educational, intellectual and research work of U of I by providing time and space for faculty to meet informally to exchange ideas, promote mutual acquaintance and build fellowship among faculty of the university so we can get to know each other outside of the departments and colleges.
Academic leadership support
Unit and college administration roundtables
The Vice Provost for Faculty hosts several sessions throughout the academic year on topics related to unit and college administration with a focus on faculty support. Department chairs, directors, associate deans and deans receive individualized invitations to these sessions.
Monthly coffee hour
The Vice Provost for Faculty hosts a monthly coffee hour to meet and discuss concerns of department chairs and directors. Individualized invitations are sent for this event.
Leadership-focused professional development
University of Idaho has an institutional subscription to Academic Impressions, a professional development resource focused on providing leadership, personal development and skills-based training opportunities.
