Judge Patricia Young served as a Magistrate Judge in Ada and Boise Counties from 1981 until 2004. During that time Judge Young chaired and was a member on several influential Idaho Supreme Court Committees dealing with children’s issues. The Court’s Child Support Guidelines Committee from 1985-1989, that Judge Young chaired, developed the first child support guidelines adopted in the state of Idaho. While serving in Boise County Judge Young was instrumental in developing a community justice program. The program received national recognition from the U.S. Department of Justice.
In 2004 Judge Young retired after serving Boise County for 23 years. Judge Young became a senior judge handling a civil calendar in Ada County two days a week until December 2016. Currently she is working on the ACLU archives and in 2018 canvassed her precinct for Proposition 2 the Medicaid expansion.
