Sampling the Moisture Content of Alfalfa in the Windrow: A New Tool Helps

CIS1107

December 31, 2002

Production of high-quality hay is vital for the dairy industry. Because forage moisture content determines its quality, producers need to know how to accurately measure the amount of water in alfalfa. Fortunately, the process only requires the use of an inexpensive tool, made with supplies that most hardware stores provide. Learn how to make and use a windrow sampling tool, along with other information about windrow moisture, including drying methods, in this classic 2003 CIS publication.
