    Community development

UI Extension community development programs create sustainable social and economic systems in Idaho through human and social capital development. They help communities prepare residents for their work, family and community roles. All programming is offered on an as requested basis. If you or your organization is interested in participating in any of the listed programming, please contact us at lemhi@uidaho.edu or 208-756-2815.

    Leadership programs

    • Straight talk — a four to five session series leadership development of workshops. Topics are tailored to community needs.
    • Leadership plenty — seven session in-depth leadership development program.
    • Personality compass — a workshop designed to help individuals identify their personality traits and how to work with other personalities.
    • Effective communication — a workshop on working through conflict, sending clear messages and personality differences are a few of the topics covered in this program tailored to meet an organization's needs.

    Living wage project

Families and youth in Lemhi County are at high risk for not making a living wage after high school. To address the needs of these at-risk individuals, a multi-year, multi-faceted partnership program has been developed.

The program, parenting with local schools, job services, civic organizations, 4-H and the local Chamber of Commerce, will help youth and adults develop skills and the support necessary to prepare for living wage jobs. Projects include a youth entrepreneurial leadership project and a college support program.
