College of Agricultural and Life Sciences — Explore family and consumer sciences

Please join the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences staff and faculty for an overview of our academic programs which include disciplines such as Food and Nutrition, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Nutritional Sciences, Human Development and Family Studies, Apparel Textiles and Design and FCS Teacher Education. Learn about possible careers, research opportunities and get a tour of some of our hands-on laboratories like the Child Development Lab, the Carmelita Spencer Foods Lab and our Sewing studios.

Explore the vibrant world of Theatre Arts by taking a behind-the-scenes look at the Forge Theatre and learning about a future in acting, directing, dramatic writing, design and technology.

Join instructor and poet Oscar Oswald for “Poems and Potato Chips” where you’ll create meaningful poems and explore form in under 15 minutes. Then, hear from Dr. Mo Cleve and students on the U of I Advertising Team as they present their $75M media campaign for AT&T “Connecting Changes Everything!”. Ideal for students interested in English, journalism, advertising, broadcasting and digital media, film and TV studies, public relations and general studies.

College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences — Envision citizenship

What does it mean to be a good citizen, and how has the concept evolved from the Roman Empire to today? Join faculty to explore these questions and the responsibilities and rights of citizenship, both ancient and modern. Engage, ask questions and gain insights for a meaningful college journey. Ideal for students interested in political science, history, international studies, modern languages, global business language studies, philosophy and general studies.

College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences — Homicide and personality disorders

Investigate the world of psychology and criminology by diving into the nuances of homicide typologies and the various forms of personality disorders. Ideal session for those interested in psychology, criminology, communication, anthropology, sociology, organizational sciences or general studies.

College of Natural Resources

Here’s a chance to try your hand at radio telemetry, which is a technique used to locate and study wildlife (and fish). Participants will use telemetry receivers and antennas to practice locating radio transmitters. We’ll also discuss other types of telemetry used in wildlife studies, including GPS and satellite telemetry.

    Tour the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences hands-on learning labs including a commercial kitchen and cooking demonstration area, fully functioning childcare facility, dietetics simulation lab and apparel, textiles and designs lab spaces.
  • College of Agricultural and Life Sciences — Farm tour
    Join us to explore the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences farm facilities including the Sixth Street Greenhouses, Beef Center, Vandal Brand Meats, Steer-a-Year Feedlot, Soil Stewards Farm, Dairy Center and Sheep Center.
  • College of Education, Health and Human Sciences — Learn more about EHHS!
    Join us for an in-depth exploration and one-on-one conversations to learn more about EHHS! Discover how you can get involved with groundbreaking research and experiments in health and human sciences labs, experience our technology-rich learning spaces and explore the diverse opportunities within our education program.
  • College of Natural Resources tour
    Join one of our current student Ambassadors to learn more about the unique features of our CNR building and ask questions that only a CNR student can answer from firsthand knowledge and experience in our courses and student life.

All tours depart from the Bruce Pitman Center. Last tour departs at 2:30 p.m.

  • Residence hall: See the residence hall options for incoming students.
  • Fraternity or sorority: Visit one of our fraternity or sorority chapter houses.
  • Student Recreation Center: Take a peek at the university’s student fitness facility.
